The UCLA Brain Research Institute, Semel Institute, and Cannabinoid Affinity Group are proud to present:
INAUGURAL 2017 UCLA CANNABIS RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM
Join us for a historic series of talks from visiting speakers and UCLA faculty about the science of cannabis, cannabinoids, and the endocannnabinoid system, as we work towards the establishment of a world-class cannabis research program at UCLA.
BACKGROUND: With the recent passage of Prop 64, California is now the largest population in the world with access to legal cannabis. Moreover, 20% of the US population has access to legal recreational cannabis, 60% has access to legal medical cannabis, and over 90% has access to some form of legal cannabis product (i.e. states have legalized the use of non-psychoactive cannabidiol derived from cannabis), all in defiance of the Federal Government’s classification of cannabis as a "Schedule I drug". Despite this unprecedented access, the science behind cannabis is sorely lacking—we simply do not know enough about the risks and therapeutic potential due to half a century of research restrictions. This historic event will feature talks from visiting speakers and UCLA faculty on the science and their latest research regarding cannabis, cannabinoids, and the endocannnabinoid system, as we work towards the establishment of a world-class cannabis research program at UCLA.
Breakfast and lunch provided.
Sponsored by the UCLA Brain Research Institute and the Semel Institute.
